Day by day
The itinerary.
Day 1Embark in Vilshofen+
Board in Vilshofen on the Danube and settle in. The welcome dinner sets the tone for the week.
Day 2Vienna+
A full day in Vienna. The Christmas markets at Rathausplatz are the headline, with a coffeehouse stop non-negotiable.
Day 3Melk and Durnstein+
Melk Abbey in the morning, then the Wachau Valley's prettiest village in the afternoon, apricot everything optional but encouraged.
Day 4Passau+
Three rivers meet here. Climb to the baroque cathedral or stay at deck level and watch the confluence drift by.
Day 5Regensburg+
The best-preserved medieval town on the river. The Stone Bridge and the oldest operating sausage kitchen in the world.
Day 6Nuremberg+
The Christkindlesmarkt is the one everything else is measured against. Gluhwein in the proper mug, kept.
Day 7Disembark+
Disembark after breakfast with transfers to the airport or your post-cruise hotel.
