Ireland Luxury Travel
Ireland luxury travel is the trip people put off for twenty years and then wish they'd done sooner. I'm Beverly Schulte, and I plan Ireland for couples, for families tracing a name, and for small groups who want the country house hotels and the coast road without spending the week white-knuckling a rental car on the wrong side.

Fewer stops than you think
The most common Ireland mistake is eight towns in ten days. The island is small on a map and slow on the ground. Roads narrow, tractors happen, and the good part is the hour you didn't schedule.
I build most Ireland trips around three bases. Something in the southwest, something on the west coast, and a few nights in Dublin or Ashford Castle at one end. You unpack three times instead of eight and the driving days stay under two and a half hours.

The houses
Ballyfin in County Laois is the one that gets talked about, twenty rooms and everything included down to the whiskey. Ashford Castle is grander and busier and the grounds are worth a full day. Sheen Falls in Kenmare and Gregans Castle in the Burren are smaller and more personal and cost a good deal less.
I've placed people in all of them and the right answer depends on whether you want to be waited on or left alone.

A driver, not a rental
This is the recommendation I make hardest. A private driver-guide runs a few hundred a day and pays for itself in the stories, the shortcuts, and the pub in Dingle you'd never have found. It also means both of you get to look out the window on the Slea Head road instead of one of you gripping the wheel.

Family history
If you're going because of a name, tell me early. Give me the county and any dates you have. There are genealogy researchers in Dublin who can do real work ahead of the trip, and standing in the right parish churchyard is a very different afternoon than standing in a general one.
Sample itinerary
Nine nights in Ireland, the way I'd build it
Three bases, one driver, and enough slack that a good afternoon can run long.
Day 1
Arrive Dublin, drive west
Overnight flight lands early. Don't try to see Dublin on that day. Driver meets you and heads for the midlands, room ready on arrival, early dinner, sleep.
Days 2 to 3
County Laois or Kildare
Two nights in a country house to get over the flight. Falconry, walled gardens, a long lunch. This is where the trip actually starts.
Days 4 to 6
Kenmare and the Beara Peninsula
Base in Kenmare. Skip the Ring of Kerry on a coach day and drive Beara instead, which is emptier and better. Dingle and Slea Head on a clear morning, Gallarus Oratory, lunch in town.
Days 7 to 8
The Burren and Connemara
North through Galway. Cliffs of Moher first thing or not at all. Connemara for the light and the emptiest road in Ireland, then Ashford Castle or Gregans depending on the trip.
Day 9
Dublin
One night in the city on the way out. Trinity, a good dinner, and an early transfer to the airport. Preclearance in Dublin means you land home as a domestic arrival, which is worth a lot on the last day.
